PRSA Silver Spike Awards
Steven was honored to be among a select group of individuals being honored by PRSA Sierra Nevada at their annual Silver Spikes awards ceremony, held at the Silver Legacy on November 1. Steven received the Mark Twain Community Service Award, which is for non-public relations professional who use communications to make the world a better place. Steven was recognized for his dedication to bringing the important topic of sexuality into mainstream conversation.
Many of Steven’s interactions with the public are done for the sole purpose of educating mass audiences and are done without financial compensation or personal gain. He has delivered presentations to the Northern Nevada Human Resource Association, professionals gathered for NCET educational events, parents and many classrooms of students at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). He recently trained future journalists at UNR about how to ask the right questions about sexually charged topics, specifically to improve the outcome of future reporting about sexual matters. He has been asked to facilitate tailored discussions to student clubs as well as to classrooms of students in various topics. His goal is to bring an understanding honed through his practice to inspire a societal discussion about emotionally intelligent human sexuality, helping us all enjoy healthier, more fulfilling lives.
